Even a calm, cold-blooded person often experiences a variety of emotions. However, he does not always allow himself to manifest them, especially in public. And not only negative emotions, but also positive ones. After all, a stormy, emotional reaction to a particular event is considered an indicator of bad manners. Few people want to be considered an ill-mannered, unrestrained person, so people are forced to suppress emotions. Is it necessary to do so?

Why is suppressing emotions unhealthy?

Why is suppressing emotions harmful? There is a simple and figurative comparison. Imagine a steam boiler with a hermetically sealed lid and a safety valve. When the water in the boiler boils and steam begins to form, its pressure gradually builds up. But the lid does not come off because excess steam escapes through the valve. And what happens if the valve is closed? After some time, the vapor pressure will become so large that it will break the lid. Similar processes occur in the human body, where instead of steam - emotions, and instead of a cover - the work of many systems, primarily the nervous and cardiovascular systems.

If you keep emotions in yourself all the time, there will surely come a moment when the body cannot withstand the accumulated nervous strain, with all the ensuing consequences. Therefore, at least sometimes it is necessary to give vent to emotions. To do this, some people attend sports sections, because standing in sparring, you can throw out negative emotions.

In addition, you can express your emotions quite restrained, without attracting the attention of others, and even more so without causing them concern.
