Difficulties await a person daily and everywhere. In this regard, there are unpleasant sensations, a bad mood, which everyone copes with differently. Someone plunges headlong into work or household chores, another tries to find the guilty, the third pretends that everything is as usual and nothing happens.

A kind of psychological defense arises in difficult situations in life. There are many examples of such protection, here are some of them:

1. Reflection

People sometimes do not want to admit their vices, but, being in an unpleasant situation, they like to endow others with shortcomings. An insecure person can attribute to others not only bad traits, but also positive qualities, thereby compensating for the lack of similar advantages in himself. This is how they compare themselves with others, and with this people try to justify themselves in difficult moments of life.

2. Compensation

There are times when the load on the psyche is very high, and the object of irritation is outside the access zone, and it is simply necessary to throw out the negative. Then the closest ones suffer: spouse, children, parents and friends. Alas, getting psychological relief can hurt dear people.

3. Denial

There are people who deny everything bad that happens in their lives. They turn a blind eye to the problems, imagining that everything is fine with them, and difficulties have occurred in the life of someone else. Someone just calms down for a while, and someone creates his own reality, afraid to admit to himself the inevitable.

4. Compensation

Not everyone has such qualities as a sharp mind, attractive appearance, sense of humor. Then there is the opportunity to resort to a method of compensating for shortcomings with other advantages. This helps a person not to lose self-esteem, faith in himself and his strength and be satisfied with himself.

5. Regression

When too difficult problems happen in life, people use regression as a defense. For example, a person can fall into childhood at a time when his parents took care of him, and the solution of all problems fell on the shoulders of adults.

Everyone has met all these defensive reactions in his life or used them himself. Knowing this property of the psyche will help to understand others and yourself. One of these methods will really allow solving the next difficulties, without which human life is probably impossible.
