Remember that the soul is affected by the information that it perceives. There are two channels of information. The first is ordinary perception through vision, hearing, etc. And the second channel is the so-called extra-sensory perception. Regardless of which channel the information came in, it can be either true or false. The process of separating truth from lies is the most difficult and important moment for the soul.

You can perfect your soul by drawing, listening to beautiful music, reading or writing poetry, etc. etc. All this is also a touch of truth - nevertheless, the most important thing for perfecting the soul is the ability to distinguish truth from lies.

Consider that the soul, absorbing false information, becomes darker, darker, moves away from God. And vice versa, the more true it is, the closer it is to the Creator. How is this manifested in practice? You heard, for example, some unpleasant story about one of your friends. What will be your action? Do you believe this story, will you gladly retell it to others, or will you immediately reject it?

It is very important to immediately recognize and reject a lie, without giving it the slightest chance to gain a foothold in consciousness. Make it a rule to discard any rumors, gossip, etc. - because in fact you do not have accurate information. Never retell what you do not know, do not spread lies. Do not savor the details of various dubious stories - all this is dirt, which most directly harms your soul.

Do not forget that a fairly large part of the information is transmitted to the person through extrasensory perception - that is, directly into his consciousness. Thought is material, so it can very well be transmitted over a distance. Every day a person accepts a large number of such thoughts that he perceives as his own. Moreover, they can be both true and false. False thoughts must be immediately discarded.

The strongest remedy against lies is prayer. Ask God to support, direct on the right path, help to learn to distinguish between truth and falsehood. The result is visible only a few days later - the spiritual vision of a person becomes clear, he begins to see his delusions.

Read the books of the holy fathers. For example, Ignatius Brianchaninov in the book "Ascetic Experiments" (in two volumes) described in great detail the ways in which a lie damages a person’s soul, and ways to combat false thoughts. Books such as “My Life in Christ” by John of Kronstadt and “Words of Asceticism” by Isaac the Syrian will be very useful. You can find other useful spiritual literature, its list is very wide.

By learning to see a lie in yourself, you will gradually begin to very clearly see it in other people. At the same time, it is important not to be proud of one’s successes, to understand that there is no personal merit in this, and the struggle for the purity of the soul will have to be waged until the last moments of life.
