The first and most important thing that is impossible to do without is a personal example. You yourself should love to read books (and not just news feeds on the Internet or blogs), and children should see you quite often with a book in their hands.

When the child is still very small (it is never too early to start, it is better from the first week of life), talk with him. Buy a book with nursery rhymes and short verses for children and tell them to your child when you change clothes, feed, carry on hands. All this is necessary both for the emotional development of the baby, and for the development of speech. If a child has a poor vocabulary by the age of three, it will be very difficult for him to read, as he simply will not understand what is at stake.

Choose books for children by age (usually the book itself indicates what age it is for) and read as often as possible. Imagine this activity to your child as something fascinating: “Now we have dinner, wash the dishes and sit down with you to read. I wonder what happened with Thumbelina?” If you promised the child to read, be sure to choose a time for this and do not get distracted by anything else. Let him understand that this is important and interesting.

When reading books, try to do this as artistically as possible: slightly change the voice for different characters, pause, observe the "fabulously leisurely" rhythm. Emotionally colored reading helps the child better perceive speech, and also makes it clear that reading is something unusual and interesting. After all, mom (or dad) usually speaks quite differently.

When a child begins to read on his own, choose well-published books with quality illustrations. See if this book will give the child joy, will his own imagination wake him up? Constantly wonder what the child is reading, discuss reading with him.

If you want your child to read, do not prematurely introduce him to the computer. Computer games are given to children easily and repel interest in other activities that require some effort. It is best to allow computer games little by little when the child has already steadily developed an interest in reading and creativity.
