Schizophrenia is a mental illness that does not have a clear origin. The condition is characterized by a chronic course, an increase in symptoms and splitting of the psyche. Most often, a pathology is diagnosed at the age of 19-30 years. By what signs can the onset of the disease be suspected?

Schizophrenia is often mistakenly attributed to diseases that are always inherited. However, according to medical statistics, it follows that only in 17% of cases the child also becomes ill if one of the parents has a similar diagnosis. The percentage increases sharply - up to about 70% - if both parents are ill. However, the exact and unambiguous reasons for the development of schizophrenia have not yet been established.

In the framework of this mental illness, violations always occur:

  • thinking

  • the will;

  • emotional reactions.

At the age of about 21 years, schizophrenia is diagnosed only in men. After this age, the disease affects women.

It is important to know that this severe mental pathology is far from being accompanied in every case by the “products of the disease, ” that is, delirium, hallucinations, illusions.

Schizophrenia risk group

In addition to the conditional hereditary indicator in the high-risk group are:

  1. people whose abstract thinking predominates;

  2. those who do not know how and do not like to work in a team prefer solitude and solo projects in their studies or work;

  3. people are closed, quiet, secretive, concentrated on themselves and their inner world;

  4. non-company personalities.

Of course, there is no absolute guarantee that a person who avoids the society of other people and prefers a closed lifestyle will eventually develop schizophrenia. However, the threat of mental pathology - this or any other - is still increasing.
