Relations between mother and daughter in some families are far from ideal. Close kinship is not a guarantee of mutual understanding.
Until the daughter has grown up, the mother is the leader in these relationships. Responsibility for the relationship lies entirely on her shoulders. Mother should not perceive daughter as property.
