Characteristics of extroverts

Every day, a person, willing or not, is in contact with other people. In order to build a productive relationship with the interlocutor, it is useful to know about some of the individual psychological characteristics of his personality. In particular, his belonging to one of the psychological types: extraversion or introversion.

An extrovert (from the Latin extra - "out") is a type of personality with a focus on vital energy in the outside world. He is interested in objects, events and connections of the world around him, in contrast to an introvert immersed in his own internal space of thoughts and experiences.

Distinctive features and advantages of extroverts

It is easy to learn extroverts, these are people of "action". As a rule, they:

communicative, easily establish contacts with other people;
enterprising and energetic;
open and friendly;
optimistic and confident.

Since the psychic energy of extroverts was initially directed outward, they cannot remain alone for a long time and seek communication themselves. As a rule, these are bright, charismatic people attracting attention. It’s fun and interesting with them, they charge others with their energy. They are the formal and informal leaders of groups, ringleaders, the "soul of the company."

For typical representatives of such a temperament, the following behavior model is characteristic:

keen interest in what is happening around them;
a large circle of acquaintances;
organizational skills;
the pleasure of public speaking and participating in the organization of public events;
tendency to manipulate people.

Among them are many politicians, public figures, actors, businessmen. This type of personality is inherent, for example, to Peter I, Napoleon, S. Yesenin, I.P. Pavlov, S.P. Korolev, V.F. Zhirinovsky.

Extrovert Weaknesses

The disadvantages of extroverts are the flip side of their advantages:

Since the extrovert is focused on the attention and recognition of others, this makes it dependent on public opinion. In order not to fall under the influence of others, he must be a developed personality with adequate self-esteem.
Excessive sociability and openness of the extrovert is often accompanied by the transmission by him of a large amount of personal information about himself and the events of his life. Sometimes the information given out without any intent can turn against himself, make him vulnerable to ill-wishers. Usually such people do not know how to keep other people's secrets. Therefore, it is important for an extrovert to strive for selectivity in communication, control over the manifestation of his emotions.
An ardent extrovert cannot accumulate its energy, as it wastes it on superficial emotions. He constantly needs recharging from people and events of the outside world. The ability to analyze what is happening around and focus on the main goals are one of the main problems of extroverts since childhood.
Extroverts tend to make decisions quickly, rather than calculating ahead all the moves and options, weighing the pros and cons. Even those who can analyze do not really like to do this, although they are aware of all the negative consequences of such haste.
