Empathy is the ability to feel the same as another person. The ability to "read" the mental state of another person in the process of communicating with him. People with this ability are called empaths. Empathy is far from every person. But the ability to feel other people as yourself can be developed.

What benefits do you get when you develop empathy in yourself?

1. You can experience what the other person is experiencing.

2. You can anticipate the behavior and reactions of another person.

3. Feeling the other person, you can "find an approach" to him.

4. You can feel the motives of another person’s behavior.

5. You can feel the sincerity and insincerity of the interlocutor.

If you want to become an empath, then you need to work on your sensitivity. The exercises are quite simple and even interesting.

1. Include a film with strong emotional content, usually dramas, war films. Thrillers are best avoided.

Try to put yourself in the place of the main character. Try to feel in what mood the hero is in a difficult situation, what is he thinking about? And what does the actor who plays this role really experience? Forget that you are at home in your favorite chair. Imagine you are on the set or the plot of a movie is the plot of your own life. The same can be done with the hero from the book. Imagine a book character is you. Imagine what you would do, being in the place of these heroes, having their character and fate.

2. In the process of communicating with a specific person, try to feel the body of the emanation of the interlocutor. Is the person tense or relaxed? Is he comfortable next to you or not? Does anything interfere with your interlocutor? Try to feel the condition of another person with skin. Do not answer these questions mentally, try to recognize the signals in your body. How does your body react to communication with this person? Are you shackled, uncovered? If you are doing everything right, then you will start to imitate your interlocutor slightly - take a similar pose, start using similar turns of speech, etc.

3. Try to imagine in your mind what a person will do when you watch him. Practice this first with friends you know well. But do not warn them of your intention so that their behavior remains natural. Before guessing, first mentally “become” the person you are trying to “read”.

Secret:

Do not expect that a specific phrase will appear in your thoughts or a voice will sound that explains how the other person feels. Empathy is your sensitivity. You will not know why a person is in this or that state, if they do not tell you. But you will know exactly what the person is going through, in what mood the interlocutor is.
