There are two types of questions - closed and open. Open-ended questions are used in spoken language and in written questionnaires and questionnaires. An example of such a question: "What are you keen on?" Open questions are answered in any form.

A closed question involves the selection of one or more of the proposed answers. In speech, it is practically not used, but they often have to be encountered when filling out official papers. There may also be a mixed type of question when you are offered ready-made answers and there is an opportunity to supplement them with your own version.

When answering a question, try to understand what exactly the interlocutor wants to hear from you. Therefore, pay attention to the interrogative pronouns with which questions often begin. If you are asked where you spent the evening, then the answer will be logical about the place of stay, and not a discussion about who made up your company and so on.

When answering a question, it’s not always worth running ahead and saying that you haven’t been asked yet. This mistake is often made by students in the exam, starting to talk about additional events and facts. Such information makes it possible for the interlocutor to start a conversation in the direction that you may not be ready for. However, this feature can be used consciously. In the event that you are competent in the topic under discussion, feel free to direct it with your answers in a direction convenient for you.

For any incorrect question, you have the right to either laugh it off, or directly tell the other person that you do not intend to answer it. True, workers in public professions (politicians, actors, television journalists, and so on) will somehow be forced to give answers (or create the appearance of answers) to such questions. The main thing is to be able to distinguish between the professional and personal spheres of life.
