There are people who often have to speak in front of a large audience. These are teachers, politicians, artists, etc. There is nothing reprehensible in the fact that a person experiences excitement when speaking. However, if it already develops into a certain phobia (public fear), it is necessary to fight it.

Get ready carefully. The more time you devote to preparation, the more confident you will feel during the performance. Try to find interesting material for the report. Then you will be ready to lively share knowledge and distract from your own fear. Pay special attention to the introduction, because often the excitement disappears after a person confidently speaks the first phrases.

Be sure to rehearse. Speak your speech to feel the correctness of the formulated thoughts and to understand what moments are most difficult for you to pronounce. Try to rehearse in conditions as close as possible to real ones. Imagine which side the listeners will be from, how you will be located, whether you will have to use a microphone, whether you will hold it in your hand, etc. All this will help you feel the atmosphere of the performance in advance.

Ask for help. If you are unsure of the content and practicality of your report, ask a competent person to listen to you. If this is not done, uncertainty will develop into an exciting fear, which can be unjustified and caused only by your self-criticism. Also, your adviser will be able to suggest how you can improve in order to make speech easier for listeners.

Gain experience. The more often you speak, the less you will experience fear. Therefore, instead of rejecting offers to speak publicly, step over your fear and agree. Over time, you will notice that you don’t even focus on whether you are afraid or not.

Notice the signs of excitement and fight them. Some people from the excitement begin to speak quickly or trembling can be traced in their voice, others do not know how to take their hands, and frantically sort out something with them, while others often begin to breathe. Your task is to notice how the excitement manifests itself in your case, and the next time you speak, focus on overcoming one of the signs of fear. So, time after time, you learn to control yourself and forget what fear of public speaking is.
