Irrational fear of public speaking is a very common problem. Subtleties can be different: people are afraid to make a reservation, start to stutter, forget the text, etc. But the basis of fear is one: condemnation and ridicule from the public.

You will not face a serious illness, let alone death, if you forget a few words from a speech prepared in advance, so it is not a matter of self-preservation. By focusing on your fear, you make it stronger. Close your eyes, imagine a car that breeds your fear of performances. Go up to her, grab the knife with your hand and jerk down sharply. Feel how your fear writhes and dies, how it loses power over you.

Recognize your right to fear, do not drive it deeper, do not hide. You have the right to fear, regardless of your gender and age. Shine fear in the face, taunt it, take it out of the depths of the subconscious. Imagine an audience full of people. Turn the audience that scares you into something funny or helpless: babies, cartoon characters, cute kittens. They will not do you harm, because you are stronger than them.

Subjugate the audience. Prepare a few phrases in advance to prove your power over the audience. For example, you can quote a scholar and ask students to write down this important point. In the context of the speech, you can enter the requirement to look out the window or at the board behind your back. Watch how the listeners obey your order and understand: they are in your hands, they obey you and cannot do harm.

Watch your condition. If even with the thought that you have to speak, you feel disturbing symptoms, it means you have a panic attack. Symptoms can be different: dizziness, a sharp increase in pressure, weakness, sweating, trembling, rapid breathing and palpitations, etc. Thus, your body protests against stress, forcing you to avoid situations in which it may occur. If a panic attack manifests itself repeatedly, it is recommended to consult a psychoanalyst.

You can try to cope with a panic attack yourself. Imagine that you are speaking to an audience. If you feel unwell, try to calm down. Breathe smoothly, short breath and long exhale. Tell yourself that this condition is not dangerous, that you are ready for it and can handle it. Listen to your breath. Smile, sing, dance, talk with someone, laugh fear in your face. If you can handle the panic, next time it will be easier. And soon you will forget about the fear of performances.
