Psychodrama is a type of group psychotherapy. The participants are divided into two groups: some try in non-verbal ways to show what torments them in the professional sphere, others try to understand the feelings presented.

Most often, people with emotional burnout syndrome resort to psychodrama. This happens when people lose interest in the profession surrounding people. Conflicts with colleagues at work, as well as aggressive attitude towards customers, may indicate that it is time for the employee to take a rest and go to a series of psychodramas.

The basis of this method is spontaneous gaming activity. The employee is asked to portray a client or colleague hated by him without resorting to verbal judgments. It often happens that people at this moment show harsh gestures: they begin to choke themselves, scratch their skin, and tear out their hair. This indicates a strong emotional exhaustion of the employee.

Any emotions that the employee will show with understanding are accepted by the rest of the group. This helps to overcome the fear of seeming stupid, naive. Sometimes this stage is enough to make the employee feel much easier, gain confidence, relieve stress. In other cases, you should continue parsing this action. This can be done with the help of banal questions: what did suffocation mean, why did you want to cry, etc.

The final step in psychodrama is to discuss the participant’s performance. Group members can express their personal feelings, share life experiences, empathize.
