It’s worth it to be at least a little worried, as in our speech various “eh-eh”, “type”, “as it were”, “here” and other unnecessary words appear. Because of them, it is difficult to make presentations, speak in public and speak with management: it seems that a person is much less intelligent and educated than he really is.
What is the reason
Although parasitic words seem meaningless, they actually play an important role - they give us time to gather our thoughts during a conversation. If it weren’t for them, we would have to pause all the time to formulate a proposal, think about the question asked, or remember the text. But still, they interfere with us during important conversations, communication at a high level.
How to handle
There are several ways to deal. First: when you are worried, try not to speak too quickly and measuredly. But speech at the same time should not resemble slow-motion playback of the soundtrack.
Choose a pace that is slightly slower than your regular speech. So you give yourself more time to think, reducing the need to use unnecessary words.
The second way is simple and fun, in a playful way: this is a can for headquarters. But here you will need the help of relatives. Put a jar on the table and when someone catches you on the word-parasite, throw a candy or coin into it. Then treat them to relatives - let them drink tea at the expense of the owner of a bad habit. But you must remember: fines are not needed for punishment, but in order to learn how to monitor your speech.
