The first performance is one of the most exciting moments in a person’s life at the beginning of an acting career. To cope with the growing excitement is not easy, but this can be achieved.
The right attitude
Before the start of the play, you need to try to set yourself up mentally. Consider whether you should have cause for concern. Listen to the opinions of people around you regarding your appearance and acting as a whole. Do not think of the upcoming performance as something inevitable. The first performance is not at all an exam, but your moment of glory, where you are given the opportunity to reveal your creative potential to people. Remember that you are on stage in order to show people your great game.
Preparation
Before the performance, rehearse your game as often as possible. Your excitement will only grow if you feel that you are performing poorly. Play your rehearsals in front of your friends and listen to their opinions. Someone's support in favor of your playing on stage can significantly give you confidence before the upcoming performance. When you are at home, get up in front of the mirror and practice your speech and facial expressions. You must be satisfied with yourself.
Get inspired
Attend other performances before your stage performance. Keep an eye on the actors on the stage and try to chat with them in their free time. Ask them about the first performance in their own experience. Listening to someone’s story retelling, you will only once again make sure that there is no reason to worry. Do you have your idols on stage? Try to enjoy their play at least once before your performance. Think about how you can achieve such success, fame and recognition. A good actor is a confident actor.
View from the outside
It would be very nice if someone shot your rehearsal on camera. Take a look at your recorded game and see if you are happy with yourself. If during viewing you feel that some moments could play better, be sure to work on them and do another shooting. Show the recording of your game to friends and family who could not attend the rehearsal.
