Stressful situations lie in wait at every corner. Conflicts with colleagues, quarrels with loved ones, misunderstanding with superiors. Even people with a phlegmatic warehouse sometimes find it difficult to control themselves, let alone those who, by nature, are choleric, and are eager for battle due to the slightest injustice.

In order to control the situation in any dispute, you need to remain calm and not succumb to provocations. There are several proven psychological ways to help keep yourself from rash acts.

Instruction manual

one

Eastern sages, famous for their measured attitude to life, advise at the time of conflict not to instinctively clench their fists, but rather to straighten their fingers. This simple movement helps with the outflow of blood from the head and makes it possible to instantly cool down and assess the situation calmly, as if from the outside.

2

If you are deliberately provoked into conflict, do not give in. To begin with, do not look into the interlocutor’s eyes, tear eye contact with him through which he could manipulate you on a subconscious level. In no case do not raise your voice: on the contrary, if they yell at you, answer intentionally quietly, but clearly. It confuses the enemy, makes you shut up to listen to what you are talking about.

3

In cases when you are going to a meeting or an event where it will be difficult to keep calm (it can be a party with your ex, or a corporate party with competitors), worry about your mood in advance. In critical cases, you can drink a sedative, just do not overdo it with a dose, so as not to feel drowsiness. But it’s best to just remind yourself the basic rules of equanimity: uniform breathing, a smile on your face.

note

- often remind yourself: “the dog barks - the caravan goes, ” “they carry water at angry people, ” “when they throw a stick, the lion looks at the one who threw the stick, and the dog looks at the stick itself. There is a huge difference between them.”

Useful advice

- to keep calm, the good old way always helps: count in your mind up to ten before you say something, which you will later regret
