Each person has some life values and priorities. Some of them are quite typical, others are relatively rare. Moreover, the analysis of these values allows you to say a lot about a person.
In many teachings, it is believed that a person is composed of body, soul and spirit. In accordance with this, human values are also shared. Some of them are aimed solely at satisfying the needs of the body, the second are designed to calm and please the soul, the task of the third is to develop a spiritual principle in a person.
Based on this division, three categories of people can be distinguished. For some, bodily pleasures are the measure of all things. Delicious food, a pleasant dream, sensual pleasures form the basis of their life. The interests of such people are limited to a narrow circle of bodily needs, by nature they are usually greedy, envious, striving for wealth and luxury.
Soulful people have a finer organization. Everything that is considered to be universal values fully corresponds to their needs; the overwhelming majority of people fall into this category. For them, love, family, friendship, good relations, etc. are important. etc. They find the most important thing for themselves precisely in what surrounds them, what is close and dear to them.
A very special category is made up of spiritual people. It is often said about them that they are not of this world. They are not attracted by the usual joys and pleasures for most people, they are far from worldly pleasures. The interests of these people lie in a completely different plane - the spiritual. They understand other people very well, perfectly understand human motivation. In the vast majority of cases, such people find refuge in the mainstream of a particular religion - in particular, they become priests or monks.
At this level, a person looks at the world very differently. He sees it more deeply, three-dimensionally, he sees the vision of causes and effects hidden from the eyes of an ordinary person. It is precisely such people who at all times were revered as saints, they were drawn to them for help and advice. Having rejected ordinary worldly values, they found spiritual values for themselves, often completely incomprehensible to the average man. At this level, a person feels especially acute his imperfection, his main goal is the desire for God. Realizing that one cannot come to God with a dirty soul, the ascetic devotes all his efforts to cleansing the soul of dirt and passions.
It is easy to see that there is no one universal value that could unite all people. Love could be called it, but for someone it would be just an empty phrase. Therefore, each person has to choose independently for what and how to live.
