The need to be oneself is one of the most important human needs. Of course, her dissatisfaction is not able to harm as much as, for example, the lack of oxygen or water. However, regular refusal, suppression of one’s own desires as a result can lead to serious psychological problems. To avoid the loss of vital energy, to prevent the emergence of a personality crisis, you need to figure out how to find your calling.
To find one’s own vocation, to realize it - this is the way, moving along which you can find happiness, provide for your life. But finding your business is not as easy as it might seem at first glance. What is stopping this?
Fear and insecurity. Because of these feelings, people do not give up unloved work, continue to visit boring offices and perform routine, uninteresting tasks. Over time, the desire to try something new disappears. And without this, changing your own life for the better is unrealistic.
But you can still find your calling. How to do it?
Turn on the imagination
Imagine that you suddenly became a wizard and are able to create a life that you didn’t even dream about. Just start imagining what you want to see around you. Dreaming, try to honestly answer the following questions:
- What kind of person are you, what kind of person are you in your fantasies?
- What do you do?
- In what area have you become a successful professional?
- What lifestyle do you lead?
- Who are you talking to? Who is surrounding you?
After analyzing the answers you can draw conclusions about how you see your own life, what you want to strive for and what you want to achieve.
Find calling in a few days
The next exercise should be allocated at least three days. Every new day you need to answer certain questions. One day is one question. The answers that come to mind during the day are recommended to be written in a notebook.
1st day. What do I like to do? What do I like to talk about? What areas of life attract me? Try to find as many favorite activities and topics as possible. Writing in a notebook requires absolutely everything that comes to mind.
2nd day. What do I do best? What abilities and skills do I have? What knowledge would I like to get?
3rd day. How can you combine your favorite activities with existing knowledge and skills? What professions match my abilities? How can I be useful to people, society? For example: if you love to pick up clothes and write about it, you can create your own blog and monetize it.
The answers to the above questions should be analyzed, find points of contact with each other and try to determine their own vocation. Remember that if you like something, but you don’t have the appropriate skills, you can always learn this.
Trial and error method
To find your own calling, you need to act, work. It is unlikely that a person who does not do anything and does not work can find the cause of his whole life. He simply will not know what he likes and what causes disgust.
Write 10 or more directions that interest you, and try your own strengths in each of them in turn. In a few months you will already be able to figure out what you are most attracted to.
Do what you like to do
Want to find your calling, source of strength? Try to perform only those actions that attract. In addition, sometimes you need to do what you fear. It is the feeling of fear that can serve as a kind of beacon, suggest in which area your vocation is hiding.
Money should not be the main goal
It is difficult to get out of the comfort zone when there is a big salary. However, money should not be misled. By focusing only on financial condition, you can miss a huge amount of opportunities. Remember that finding your own vocation, you can earn even more money for subsistence, to provide for yourself for many years.
Money has tremendous power over people. Indeed, with their help, much can be achieved. However, if you forget about the financial issue at least for a while and devote yourself to developing your own talents and finding a vocation, you can achieve more significant success. And the money will come by itself.
When a vocation is found
- Time flies at lightning speed. You do not have to count the seconds until the end of the working day. There is a feeling that you have just started working, and it's already evening.
- Work does not bring fatigue, but energy. At the end of the working day, you experience mostly positive emotions.
- New ideas are constantly emerging regarding how one can improve one's own activities.
- You are often asked for advice, recommendations. You are appreciated as a professional in your field, and they try to listen to your opinion.
