Naivety and stupidity
So how does naivety relate to stupidity? You need to start with the fact that naivety in each person manifests itself in its own way.
Up to a certain age, it’s natural to be naive, but after that it looks silly and causes a lot of problems to a person. It is children's naivety that can be considered true. But an adult who again falls into the same trap is more like an ostrich, who hides his head in the sand, not wanting to notice problems in the world around him.
Perhaps a person is simply unable to accept the imperfection of any aspect of reality. For example, you may not notice all the signs of cheating on the part of your spouse for a long time. But then the "cup" is overflowing, and all the facts come up before my eyes at once. Then a person who before that looked rather naive suddenly understands the situation in its entirety. You can’t call him naive anymore.
If a person is not in a hurry to judge people and the world around him, simply accepting him as he is, then this is also a manifestation of naivety. This is the so-called simplicity of judgment, which often contains truth. No wonder the sages always declare that most of all they should be likened to children, whose naivety does not raise any questions.
But it also happens that a person "steps on" his own naivety, like a rake. Over time, he either learns from his mistakes or not, continuing to break his forehead. Naivety does not imply serious reflection on the nature of certain issues. Perhaps this is a virtue, but certainly not one that is due to intelligence. Sooner or later, you have to think, and the longer you put it off, the more naivete becomes like erroneous behavior.
