"The word - not a sparrow, fly out - you will not catch", - how much sense is in this folk wisdom! Surely every person at least sometimes, but had to bitterly regret that he could not restrain himself, did not say anything in this or that situation. Someone belatedly justifies himself, they say, I'm direct by nature, used to cut the "truth-womb"! Well, for many ladies, belonging to the "weaker sex" itself is like an indulgence. Say, everyone knows that women do not know how to keep their mouths shut. So how do you learn to hold back your tongue?

Instruction manual

one

As often as possible, recall proverbs and sayings about the benefits of intelligent silence. “The word is silver, silence is gold, ” “It is not for nothing that a person has two ears and only one mouth, ” “Chatterbox is a godsend for a spy, ” etc. One must learn restraint. Of course, this is not easy, especially for sociable, emotional people. They are literally “bursting” with a desire to talk, and on almost any topic, even one that they do not understand at all. Nevertheless, you need to work on yourself.

2

There are appropriate self-hypnosis techniques. Try to remember cases when you were annoyed by some restless talker who carried the most real nonsense. Think, because in the eyes of other people you can look just such a talker. Resist the temptation to justify yourself by stating: "But he said stupid things, and I only say smart words!" Believe me, this is not always the case.

3

Learn to engage in dialogue with yourself. Many people are overly talkative precisely because they cannot keep the information "in themselves", for them it is just a torment. If there are no people near you, you can speak out loud, better in an undertone.

4

If you are in a company and you irrepressibly want to intervene in a conversation, express your point of view, try to say at least part of your remarks mentally. Believe me, this is not an indicator of mental abnormality, as many mistakenly believe.

5

Try to find a hobby for you. Why are so many retirement grandmothers so insanely talkative, for example? Yes, they just got a lot of free time, which they do not know what to take. When a person does something (especially if this activity requires attention, concentration), he simply has no time to bother. His hands and head work, not his tongue.
