Probably, many who first heard the beautiful word "graphology" involuntarily associate it with "graphomania", but this is completely untrue! Consonance conceals a cardinal difference in meanings. Graphology is considered a poorly studied area of either psychology, medicine, or criminalistics, or perhaps characterology along with physiognomy and palmistry.

The very word “graphology”, like many others, came to us from the ancient Greek language: γράφω - “I write”, λόγος - “doctrine”, that is, the doctrine of writing. This is a set of certain techniques, which, when used comprehensively, allow you to determine the psychological characteristics of the personality by handwriting. Perhaps it would be more correct to call this science "psychographology."

In modern science, this doctrine is considered as pseudoscientific. Nevertheless, for many years graphology has been causing keen interest among a wide variety of public, and this interest arose even in antiquity. And how can it be that the opportunity to "bite through" a person by hardly glancing at his handwriting may not be attractive! For example, by the thickness of the ink lines you can establish the authenticity of the will or recognize a murder disguised as suicide by the location of the text on a suicide note. Similarly, according to the characteristics of handwriting, personnel services can calculate in advance an unreliable employee. An interesting conclusion is drawn from a psychological analysis of the handwriting of famous people: it turns out that true deviations and genius are invariably accompanied by mental deviations. So, according to one of the recognized experts, handwriting experts, among the brilliant Russian writers - only Pushkin was completely healthy.
