Ways to determine the sociotype are known to fans of socionics. But each method has reefs that are not obvious at first glance.
Method 1. Socionics tests
It works, but randomly. After passing the test, you will recognize the sociotype. The question is - whose. Maybe yours. Or maybe your dad’s sociotype, which sits in your head and dictates to you how purposeful a man or what a nice girl you should be.
The socionics test has a chance to guess the sociotype. Whether this happens or not depends on a number of factors. The main thing you need to know about these factors is that you do not control them.

Method 2. Self-typing
Works! But not always. Self-typing is an effective way to determine a sociotype if you approach it wisely, namely:
- with knowledge of Jung’s typology,
- with patience
- with the ability to observe yourself and draw balanced conclusions.
Not all self-typing works. Defining a sociotype from descriptions is useless. The descriptions are too general, give in to a biased interpretation. But typing yourself through self-observation and self-reflection is a more effective task.
Method 3. Typing in the company of like-minded friends
Works with a creak.
Plus, like-minded companies are able to discuss self-observation, talk about socionics, keep in touch with socionic knowledge and skills. It’s easier for the company to experiment and immediately discuss the results.
The minus of typing with like-minded people is an amateur character. The socionic party is primarily a party, not socionics. People speak the same language, they enjoy hanging out and chatting. Socionics is an occasion to gather in a pleasant company, to spend time with pleasure.
Are socionic parties useful? If you like, then yes! Do they give a result in determining the sociotype? Unfortunately no.
