Non-verbal communication between people often occurs through gaze. It is the view that can complement information about a person and indicate his true intentions. But, before making conclusions, it is important to remember that in different cultures the view has its own individual characteristics.
When examining the gaze, remember that, for example, representatives of Japanese culture during conversation can cover their eyes and tilt their heads. This suggests that they are fully focused on the words of the interlocutor. In Muslim countries, women are forbidden to look carefully at men, so most often they will not look up when talking. Otherwise, our culture is close to European. A direct open look indicates that a person is interested in communicating with you and shows respect for the conversation.
When interacting with a person who is not very familiar to you, at some point he may look at you with a direct, hard look, intently, point-blank, indicating that you have gone too far, violating his personal space, and he does not intend to continue to talk with you.
If a person feels guilty or wants you to forgive him for something, his gaze will be filled with repentance, supplication and humility. He will never look at you directly, but will listen to your words, observing from underneath. After a while, you will get the feeling that you are facing a child, who must be forgiven for everything that he has done.
When you feel an interested look on yourself or, as it is called, intimate, then a person wants to attract you primarily as a sexual partner. Women very quickly recognize such a frank look, but they themselves prefer to “shoot with their eyes” in order to capture the attention of a man.
If you tell your interlocutor for a long time an entertaining, as it seems to you, story, but he does not have time or is bored, then his gaze may become wandering, saying that he is already thinking about something completely different. A wandering gaze appears in a person in other situations, for example, when he finds himself in an unfamiliar, unusual place and he needs to study the surrounding space.
When your interlocutor is tired or irritated, he can begin to roll his eyes up, showing that he no longer has the strength to listen to you and wants to get rid of you as quickly as possible. Pay attention to the expression on the face of the person you are in contact with, because not always looking up is a desire to end the conversation. It is possible that at this moment the interlocutor was simply distracted, because for a moment he looked away.
The narrowed eyes can tell you that the person was very attentive to what you just told him or say. But if at the same time he turned his eyes to the side, then, most likely, he does not want to reveal his plans to you.
If your eyes are wide open and you read surprise or fear in them, then the information received has caused a state of shock in the interlocutor.
When a person looks down at you, and his eyelids are a little covered, then he considers you an unworthy interlocutor or he absolutely does not care what you tell him. But do not exclude the fact that a person simply wants to sleep or is very tired, and covered his eyes only for a minute, not wanting to interrupt your story.
