Any athlete trains, improves his skills in order to win the competition. Often showing excellent results in the training process, it literally “fails” at the most crucial moment when you need to show the result.

This may be due to deficiencies in two main aspects of training: psychological and functional.

Psychological attitude

To prepare for the competition it is extremely important to properly tune emotionally and mentally. Do not worry much before the start or match for the final result. We must try to aim at getting pleasure from the process itself. It is believed that in life it is not the moment of achieving the goal that is interesting, but the path made to it. Understanding this, you can discard unnecessary emotions and just do your job.

If we are talking about a race or a football match, you need to try to imagine yourself directly in the competition the night before, to feel how the muscles begin to work, and your heart rate will increase. Such an approach will help to somewhat reduce the excitement in reality, which is important.

Some coaches of football and hockey teams, before important matches, go with their wards to the mountains or the forest to completely disconnect from reality. Such mental and emotional switching allows you to relieve stress, look at everything from the side.

You can resort to this yourself, having walked a couple of hours in the forest, visiting a movie theater. The main thing is for the switch to happen. Computer games, sitting on the Internet will not help, since in this case physical activity is necessary.

If we are talking, for example, about a fight, you can prepare in advance for a few days and weeks. In this case, it is important to gradually disconnect from the surrounding reality, during each training session, live emotions that are close to real fighting ones. Then the fight itself will not cause much stress to the psyche.
