Fear of disease is called hypochondria. Like many other phobias, this fear can cause considerable concern both to those who suffer from it, and to those close to it. However, hypochondria also has other, more dangerous consequences.

What does the fear of getting sick

Hypochondria can seriously undermine the human psyche, especially if the phobia has passed into a severe stage. Constant fear creates stress, and that, in turn, undermines health. The more people think about the risk of getting sick, the weaker their nervous system becomes. That is why hypochondria needs fast, and most importantly, professional treatment.

Close people also suffer. Exposure to phobias can cause conflicts that only increase stress. If the hypochondriac is left alone, misunderstood and rejected, it is bad for his health.

Unfortunately, people suffering from this phobia often develop real diseases. This is a purely psychological effect: if hypochondriac is very afraid of symptoms such as high fever or low blood pressure, they may soon appear in fact. This does not mean that a person really develops a serious illness, just his body reacts to stress in this way. The more often "imaginary" symptoms appear, the higher the risk that they will have a bad effect on health.
