For a long time, the official reasons for the origin of this phobia remained in the shadows. However, not so long ago, scientists conducted a detailed analysis, which paid off. It turns out that the female fear of mice is inextricably linked with the ancient history of the coexistence of rodents and humans.
Time-tested fear
Experts are sure that everything is to blame for the human genetic memory. The fact is that ancient people lived in caves. Naturally, rats and mice coexisted with them side by side. Rodents constantly stole food from a person, caused harm to women and children by biting them.
Since men were mainly engaged in hunting, women had to protect children from malicious rodents, taking all the “blows” on themselves. Women, in turn, were almost no one to protect.
To people who are calmly related to rodents, home mice can deliver many pleasant minutes. The fact is that some rodents can sing, uttering trills reminiscent of the songs of robin birds.
In addition, cavemen experienced a constant lack of food, and treacherous rats managed to rob them of the latter. One can imagine the horror this led to the keepers of the hearth. Involuntarily, they developed a fear of rodents.
A mouse like a childhood phobia

The fact is that little girls sometimes become involuntary witnesses of such a picture: a nimble mouse runs out from under the sofa, which scares her mother half to death. Mom screams, girl cries.
This story continues when dad comes home. Parents begin to argue and curse, figuring out the reason where mice come from in their house. Mom accuses the father of dishonesty - socks scattered around the house, food crumbs, etc. Dad, in turn, reproaches the mother for sitting at home and cannot learn how to deal with mice.
The little girl sees everything and hears everything day by day. It is not surprising that with age a phobia for rodents is developed and fixed in a child. After all, do not forget that the psyche of the child is shaky. Therefore, even the smallest and harmless mouse can become a real stress for an already grown young girl.
