Memories are the work of human memory. Thanks to memory and imagination, a person can mentally reproduce the events of his life. However, not all moments of the past would be desirable to recall. I want to leave some negative events forever. Therefore, you need to work with your memories.

Any departure from the problem does not solve this problem, and negative memories are no exception. Once, something may remind you of the past, and all the same feelings and emotions will arise again, from which a person so carefully runs away. Working with the past means working through negative experiences and changing emotions from memories from negative to positive or even just neutral.

External changes

As a way to forget and let go of the past, the external changes of a person are considered. In most cases, this method is used by people disappointed in love. It is believed that changes in hairstyle and style in clothes, weight loss and a healthy glow on the face will help to leave memories in the past. Some even decide to seek a new job or move.

However, sometimes this method does not work, because wherever a person goes, no matter how outwardly he changes, he takes with him all his memories, and with such a heavy burden it is difficult to regain happiness. But there are pluses in this method: if a person is looking for new acquaintances in a new place, constantly developing, spiritually growing and gaining new experience, there simply is no time left to worry about the past.

Bright new impressions

You can not even change your lifestyle so dramatically, you can leave a lot as you did before, however, constantly fill your life with new impressions and emotions. In these cases, it is better to engage in extreme sports, charity or volunteering, to realize your creative potential, for example, remember about drawing lessons at school or about the desire to learn how to play the guitar. With this pastime and daily emerging new emotions, there will also be no time for negative.

Working out memories

When it comes to the realization that the past will not go away just like that, a person begins to work with him. This can be done based on the techniques of NLP (neuro-linguistic programming). In this technique, it is first better to work out one negative memory, and then you can increase the volume of situations being worked out.

You need to imagine your life as a series of pictures. Those who are applying a similar technique for the first time, it is better to sit on a sofa or in a comfortable chair, relax and stare at the opposite (preferably empty) wall. On this wall it’s worth mentally hanging photos with moments of life: here is a photo of how a person went to first grade, but he returns from competitions with a diploma, and here mom and dad are proud of the child during the award ceremony for the best performers, then the first kiss, standing next to a best friend, etc. Here you also need to hang a “negative” photograph on the wall, so that it differs from bright positive events, let it be black and white.

Do not forget about the future, and therefore you should definitely put here the desired pictures of the future: here is a person holding a first-born or twins, here is a beautiful wedding, then a fast-moving career and the post of CEO of Gazprom or a goal scored in the final of the World Cup. The main thing the application of this technique will lead to: a negative event will be perceived as a small and imperceptible moment against the background of other life events.

Life line

This technique is similar to the past, but it is easier to perform, especially for those who find it difficult to tune in to the fact that photos suddenly appear on an empty wall. True, it affects the emotional sphere less, which means that it will have to tinker with it longer.

In this technique, one’s whole life should be presented not in the form of photo cards, but in the form of a line. On a piece of paper, you need to draw a line (time) and postpone the current moment in the middle. And then mark at the top of this line those events of the past and future that are perceived as positive. A negative event is noted in the past, laying the beam down from the line. The essence and purpose of the method is similar to the previous one: one negative event does not mean anything, since a person has such a positive and stormy life in

past, and especially because such a rich and vibrant life lies ahead.
