Self-esteem greatly affects human life. And it is very important precisely in adolescence to help the child figure out his level of claims. Psychologists say that low self-esteem manifests itself when the child does not feel the full love of his parents. If you do not help him in time, he will look for a way out in another. So, many teenagers begin to smoke, drink or become addicted to computer. Sometimes low self-esteem is hidden behind the outer shell - unimaginable hairstyles, piercings. Of course, only parents can help a child in his throwings.

Instruction manual

one

Praise your child for any victory. Praise has a very beneficial effect on self-esteem. Encourage him for any zeal for development, self-expression. All children are talented in their own way, so do not scold him for any mistakes in school or sports. If he doesn’t succeed, give him help. Let the child feel that you love him not for good grades, but simply for what he is.

2

Maintain confidence in the teenager. More often tell him that you believe in him, that he will cope with any difficulties. Emphasize how it is changing for the better every day.

3

Children doubly painfully perceive criticism from strangers - classmates, teachers. Therefore, if you see that the child is upset with something, take an interest in his affairs. Explain that if the criticism is fair, then it must be taken into account, and if not, then just do not focus on it.

4

In no case do not exaggerate any negative acts of a teenager. Instead of the phrase "You never listen to me!" say, "It seems to me that if you listened to my advice, you would have succeeded even better, " or the reproach "You are behaving badly!" replace with "I'm very worried when you act like that."

5

Give the children the right to solve some problems themselves, for example, what to do in their free time or which section to sign up for. Such independent decisions strengthen self-confidence and increase self-esteem.

6

Communicate with your child more often, take an interest in his affairs. Do not get off on duty phrases when he wants to talk about life, to share his impressions about something.

7

It is important to find a child an interesting hobby and strongly support him in this. A child must be at least somewhat better than the rest. Continually emphasize his skills in this area.

eight

Create your child’s personal hall of fame. Hang in this place all his letters, some awards. But do not overdo it - do not turn this place into a museum.

9

And most importantly - love your child and always support him.
