Thirdly, the word means respect and well-deserved honor. Remember the expression "give honor." It is akin to the word honor. To do honor means to pay tribute to a person’s qualities or his merits and reputation, that is, the third meaning is very connected with the first and second. In honor of someone, events can be arranged, names given to something, that is, this concept is associated with special respect for the person. Usually they say this about famous people and their loved ones, although in this sense the word can be used humorously.
