If we consider each person as a member of society, and the person is just a social being who lives and acts among his own kind, then kindness is what helps other people survive. It turns out that in social terms the laws of natural selection do not apply - most people do not treat the rest as competitors for a place in the sun. Moreover, kind people are always ready to help someone who is currently having a hard time. They are ready to help and share with others what they have, thereby increasing the chances of maintaining the species.

Sociologists have a so-called theory of "innate empathy." It lies in the fact that in a normal person, the suffering of another person or a living creature nearby is caused by mental suffering, no less severe than physical. It is noticed that healthy babies begin to cry and behave uneasily if they hear a sick or hungry child lying next door crying. Therefore, kindness in this case is explained by a selfish desire to make happy those who are nearby, in order to feel comfortable at the same time.

But there are examples that kindness is brought up in a person from childhood. If the parents taught him compassion and mercy, showed this by their own example, then the child, as a rule, grows up the same. A person to whom these concepts have been alien since childhood can grow embittered and cruel.

If a person himself could choose whether he should be good or evil, then he probably always chose the first. For spiritual comfort, this feeling is simply necessary. Anger and cruelty eat away the soul from within and devastate it. An evil person has no loved ones and friends; he is forced to communicate only with those who also have a flawed soul.
