"Do not renounce from the sum and from prison" - the proverb says. A person who has visited places not so distant will never be the same again. The atmosphere of the prison leaves a certain imprint on the personality of all its inhabitants.
How does a prison change a prisoner?
Staying in custody radically changes the psychology, character and worldview of a person. These changes are often not for the better, even if a person becomes morally stronger. Solitary confinement, in general, can lead to madness. After five years of imprisonment, irreversible changes in the psyche take place, the personality of an individual is lost, a person takes prison settings for his own, and these settings sit very tightly.
Most repeat offenders have an unconscious need to be caught in order to go back to jail. In the wild, they are unfamiliar, changeable, unclear how to behave and where to go further. Perhaps in prison a certain status and authority was earned, which was given with difficulty. At large, this status does not mean anything, the society stamps the former convict. Outwardly, people who have been in prison also change: often they have a cold, prickly look, many return with broken teeth and broken internal organs.
